The Possibility Design: Discussion Panel
Rarely do we think about design as a tool for social change.
Rarely do we think about design as a way to transform the lives of people living with a disability. Rarely do we think about the opportunities and challenges facing designers who live with an impairment and the unique world views they can bring to design. Yet much of the things we take for granted in our world today were originally designed for, by or with the disability community.
This session explores the experiences and insights of designers and makers who live with an impairment. From the power of AI and avatars to change lives with in the Deaf community, to the role of accessible technology to open up the lives and opportunities for whanau living with disability, as well as the power of design to be a tool to generate new conversations around belonging, this session will directly challenge our ideas on what is possible!
Accessibility innovator and author Minnie Baragwanath will host the Possibility panel discussion with 3 incredible and diverse designers and makers including Dr Arash Tayebi CEO and Founder of Kara Technologies as well as the dynamic mother and daughter team Cheryl and Shenaragh Nemani.
