Scott Flutey (Ngāi Tahu, Ngāti Māmoe) is a Heritage Advisor at Whanganui District Council with a background in history, museum practice and heritage planning. He led the development of Whanganui’s Heritage Strategy and was a co-author of the successful UNESCO City of Design application.

Born and raised in Whanganui, Scott has a particular interest in heritage skills, conservation carpentry, raranga, and the stories embedded within historic places and objects. His work explores the connections between heritage, design and craftsmanship, with a focus on uncovering and sharing lesser-known stories from Aotearoa’s built and cultural heritage.

A passionate advocate for heritage conservation, Scott works closely with communities to protect and celebrate the places, skills and stories that shape local identity and strengthen connections between people, place and history.
