Te Whare o Rehua Sarjeant Gallery offers a distinctive setting for the Festival of Design Aotearoa.

Te Whare o Rehua is one of New Zealand’s oldest purpose-built galleries and is recognised as one of New Zealand’s leading regional public galleries with a nationally significant permanent collection and a dynamic programme of contemporary art exhibitions. Reopened in November 2024 after an extensive redevelopment, the iconic 107-year-old Sarjeant Gallery is now earthquake strengthened, restored and extended with a modern wing named Te Pātaka o Tā Te Atawhai Archie John Taiaroa. The design of Te Pātaka is the result of a co-design process between Warren and Mahoney Architects and Te Kāhui Toi o Tupoho.

Te Whare o Rehua Sarjeant Gallery is a cultural facility of the Whanganui District Council, situated in the heart of Whanganui, New Zealand’s only designated UNESCO City of Design.
