A unique mid-century venue for ideas and conversation.

Housed within the Whanganui Regional Museum, the Davis Theatre is an intimate venue for talks, presentations, workshops, panel discussions and screenings. Built in 1968, the theatre is a distinctive example of New Zealand mid-century architecture, offering a character-filled setting for conversation, creativity and the exchange of ideas.

Visitors can explore the museum's exhibitions before or after events, including Whanganui Mūmū – Whanganui By Design, which celebrates the creativity, innovation, cultural integrity and enduring design traditions of the Whanganui region. Developed to mark Whanganui's designation as a UNESCO City of Design, the exhibition showcases the people, objects and stories that have shaped the city's reputation as a centre for design excellence.

Conveniently located in Pukenamu Queen's Park, the Davis Theatre provides a practical and accessible option for smaller-scale festival experiences.
